Nikolae Ge's The Crucifixion (1894) was given by his son to the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris in 1903, and is now in the Musée d'Orsay. It's provocative pose and gruesome realism, holds nothing back about the suffering endured by our Savior. Creatively may we strive to create works as compelling as this, and theologically, may we never sugar coat the price paid for our redemption.
