Reverent One is a calling 20 years in the making.  I saw a Salvador Dali painting, Crucifixion (Corpus Hypercubus) and cried.  From that single image I discovered the power of art.   If I were to describe in words what happened and why, I would say that I encountered God, through an image of Christ, that redefined my understanding of faith and the world, and placed within my heart a longing to behold him forever.

Fast forward two decades, and that moment of personal desire has now become a prayer to see a movement take place in Southern California and beyond known as Reverent One.  An art community, made up of generational and culturally diverse people who are a gospel-centered, Spirit empowered coalition of artists, churches, organizations, patrons, and public that seek to encounter God through the art of worship.

For Reverent One, "seeing is believing," because God has used the art of worship, to change us and for this reason we desire that others might share in this same experience also.  Whether you're an artist seeking refuge, or a patron with a servant's heart, there is much to be done and you are welcome to find your fit.

May we remember to, "...offer to God acceptable worship,

with reverence and awe for our God is a consuming fire." Heb. 12:29

It is God who cultivates creative potential, moves the Church to action, and redeems cultures for future generations; to his glory and our good.  It is from this place that Reverent One finds its origin, and through a process of conception, curation, and conservation of worship art, finds its life.

CONCEPTION

Reverent One develops art concepts of unique spiritual introspection.

Through the creative juxtaposition and intersection of compelling images and ideas, that are framed within the canons of scripture and art history, we question assumptions and listen for responses from both God and man, regarding defining kingdom moments in the life of a church, community and culture.   It is from this place and for this purpose, that original art works are created, commissioned, rented, received on-loan, or placed on view from our permanent collection.

CURATION

Reverent One curates sacred spaces with the art of worship for profound spiritual influence.   Typically, these are local expressions we call Spirit galleries.  An Artist's Call is made prior to the creation of a Spirit gallery in order to allow for adequate exploration of concepts expressed and cohesion of work exhibited by the Curate and their Council. Participants experience an encounter with God because of their interaction with these objects and artifacts of worship.  Through constructive dialogue with and discernment of the Spirit's movement, defining kingdom moments in the life of an individual or community are shared, and new acts of faith pursued.

CONSERVATION

Reverent One conserves the art of worship through archival best practices, and the rental, sales, and purchase of work determined to be of significant spiritual importance.

This includes acquiring specific works for Reverent One's established collection, as well as posting images of works on all social media platforms for future reference and viewing.

Reverent One is a ministry 20 years in the making.  Two decades ago I saw a Salvador Dali painting, Crucifixion (Corpus Hypercubus) and cried.  From that moment I was never the same.  From that single image I discovered the power of art.  If I were to describe in words what happened and why, I would say that I encountered God, through an image of Christ, that redefined my understanding of faith and the world, and placed within my heart a longing to behold him forever.

Fast forward two decades, and that seed planted, now has grown into my role as artist and curate of Reverent One whose emerging work with light painting, digital sculpture, and iconography pair with my pastor calling to guide individuals and communities into the presence of Christ and the Holy Trinity.

with reverence and awe for our God is a consuming fire."
